Since the last edition of The Common Sense Internet Gazette,
in-boxes have become increasingly saturated with commercial newsletters. I felt that adding to the email din wasn't helping my clients and friends. I stopped sending the regular multi-article newsletters and expected no one would notice.
I am happy to report that I was wrong. I have received several messages asking that the person be put back on the newsletter subscription list. In response, I faithlessly promised I would resume production. Something bothered me about starting up again, and I couldn't figure out what.
Finally, I think I have figured it out. The old style, long newsletter was a lot of work to create and too daunting for most people to read. People liked getting it, but over time fewer people clicked through on the links.
I am ready to test the validity of my revelation. I am relaunching the newsletter. There will be fewer stories each edition. Mostly the stories will be shorter, too, with links to longer blog posts or additional information.
